PFOA/PFOS Removal
The NSF P473 Drinking Water Treatment Units standard evaluates the effectiveness of water treatment technologies for reducing certain chemicals in drinking water, including perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorobutane sulfonate (PFOS). As per the new EPA regulations, the maximum contaminant levels (MCLs) are now set at 4 parts per trillion for both PFOA and PFOS. The testing requires these compounds in the influent to be reduced below these new MCL levels to comply with the regulations. Additionally, the EPA has introduced standards for other PFAS compounds and mixtures, providing comprehensive protection against a broader range of contaminants.
For further details on the latest regulations, please refer to the EPA's announcement on PFAS regulations.
