Thank you Vance

"The system is up and running. The water looks great. No iron smell or taste. I still need to dial in the amount of H2O2 added to the iron eradication. I'm starting high and will taper down until the amount is balanced. I would have rated this 4 stars because threads on the T fitting where the H2O2 is injected were not correct. It was very difficult to connect without cross threading. You earn a point for Vance getting me straightened out connecting the brine tank to the softener. There was 3/8" tubing that I overlooked that goes between them and all I saw was the 5/8". Very responsive Customer Service and Technical Service."

System upgrade

"We have been using a softener for years, but struggling with clear iron for years with a standard softener. We added the hydrogen peroxide with iron removal system and it appears to be working great."

Installation instructions and support

"The customer service team at US Water Systems is top notch! All of them are personable and have the expertise and to support the installation process. Now I am not your average DIYer. . . . . . since I have experience with more difficult plumbing and pipe fitting projects. With that being said, they will even use FaceTime when necessary to answer the "hard to answer questions" so they can see exactly what my questions were in real time. The cost savings with US Water Systems was significant. I received quotes from my local contractors and which were more than 2 times higher than what I paid US Water Systems for the Flexx Iron & Sulfur Eradication & Softening System."

"Great system, cleaness water we ever had. The hydrogen peroxide injection system is awesome. We dial it in to our well water and it gives us the sweetest water we ever had better than City water."

Q&A

Can this system be installed outdoors?
No — this system is generally intended to be installed indoors or in a protected enclosure. It should not be exposed directly to weather, freezing temperatures, or prolonged sunlight. If it must be placed outside, it needs to be in a well-built enclosure that protects it from the elements and allows proper drainage and access for service
Does system both soften and condition the water for drink ability? Also, how often is the maintenance/addition of salt needed?
Does it soften and “condition” the water for drinkability? Yes—this system is a true water softener + iron/sulfur treatment combo. It softens by removing hardness minerals (calcium/magnesium) and it also treats well-water iron and sulfur (rotten-egg odor / staining) using oxidation and filtration. That said, “drinkability” depends on your well water quality overall. Softening + iron/sulfur treatment can greatly improve taste/odor and staining, but it’s not a disinfection system. If there’s any concern about bacteria/unknown well quality, you’d still want a proper water test and typically a UV or other disinfection step. How often do you add salt? The brine tank holds about 180 lb of salt. How often you refill depends on hardness, water use, and your regeneration settings, but a practical rule is: Check monthly (at first), and then Refill whenever the salt level drops to ~1/3–1/2 full In many homes that ends up being about every 4–8 weeks, but heavy water use or high hardness can make it more frequent.
Hi does this system remove fluoride?
No — the Flexx Iron & Sulfur Eradication + Softening Combo is built to remove hardness, iron, and sulfur, not fluoride. If you want fluoride reduction, you’d add a bone-char fluoride filter such as the Bodyguard Fluoride Removal Filter, which uses bone char media and is listed as removing up to 98% of fluoride.
Can this system be installed outdoors
This system is not intended for outdoor installation unless properly protected from the elements and freezing temperatures. Exposure to rain, snow, and UV sunlight can damage the control valve, tanks, and electronic components, while freezing conditions can crack the tanks and plumbing. For outdoor use, the unit would need to be enclosed in a weatherproof, insulated structure to ensure proper operation and longevity.
