BPA (bisphenol A) is a chemical that is added to many commercial products, including food containers and hygiene products. It was first discovered in the 1890s, but chemists in the 1950s realized that it could be mixed with other compounds to produce strong and resilient plastics.
BPA is said to mimic the structure and function of the hormone estrogen. Due to its estrogen-like shape, BPA can bind to estrogen receptors and influence bodily processes, such as growth, cell repair, fetal development, energy levels, and reproduction. In addition, BPA may also interact with other hormone receptors, such as those for your thyroid, thus altering their function.

Most reverse osmosis systems lose 30% to 40% of their pressure during the reverse osmosis process. "I did lots of research and read many reviews before buying this system. Most of the popular Chinese made units were reported to be flimsy and cheap and leak prone. This thing has a very solid feel. Installed easily and color coded tubing made it easy to see what was going where. Permeate pump gives us much better volume and pressure especially for feed to fridge. The pump does make a clicking sound but not a big deal. TDS went from 460 to 70. With Nitrate filter went from off the scale to 0. I'm happy."

"This seems like a well made product and once installed has dropped the lab-measured arsenic levels in our home’s water from above the limit to imperceptible. We love our water now! Unfortunately, when I ordered this product, it took far longer than anticipated to arrive. I had to make multiple frustrated phone calls to US Water Systems to get my order (which is especially frustrating when we are talking about drinking water and there are several next-day delivery options on Amazon), and it now shows as out of stock on their website. So, if you are able to purchase this system, I do recommend it. However, be weary of lead times and maybe call customer service first to check expected delivery/lead times."

"Our old reverse osmosis system, installed when we bought our house, was never able to keep up with our demand. We wanted to connect a countertop ice maker and knew we had to upgrade. After some research we found this system with permeate pump. We chose to install it in our cellar to save under-sink space, and to make maintenance easier. The new system has no trouble keeping up with demand, including our countertop ice maker. Water quality is outstanding. My wife and daughter are very picky about their water, so as long as they're happy, I am happy."
