ALWAYS TRY TO BUY the REAL THING
"Whether I can afford it or not, I always try to buy 'the real thing' , the proprietary Brand name product when still available or very least, the oem. Perhaps not always necessary, but from US Water Sys you have the peace of mind knowing ur getting THEE advertised product and as of current date on my purchase [ and SUBSCRIPTION for yearly renewal] the best price. I got the PKG deal with glass sheath not knowing if i wud need or even use it. . . but you never know when ya need spare shud ya drop it. While i have no ACTUAL test data from DAy One water sample to the established 'end of life' of bulb FInal water sample for comparison. . . I think its STILL GOOD IDEA to do the RECOMMENDED YEARLY BULB CHANGE. . . I KEEP my spare bulbs, just in case, as a backup. And also until I can determine and find proper safe disposal and recycling center for them, I have the ORIG PELICAN PUV-14 system which i added to my new well system I installed. I've posted a few pics for other potential buyers and Reviews to help maybe help others- starting with VIQUA Box shipped from US Water and my ORIG, OLD used bulb from Pelican showing VIQUA is in fact OEM Pelican bulb. Your install and setup maybe different and vary from mine, of course but thot it may help to see where and how i placed my UV. While manual says vertical is preferred, horizontal also fine. I had devil of time trying to fit it all in the [current] limited space and able still get bi-folds closed. Right or wrong, I install shut-offs on everything pre & post all components/units for draining, isolating for easier service. I WOULD and MAY in fact think about doing some ACTUAL testing of water samples with NEW bulb to collect data NOW and at 1 year. THAT would be genuinely helpful data to HAVE, see, and analyze. . . as these bulbs are NOT CHEAP. Any xtra few months ur able to get out of them without falling below a safety threshold is a good thing AND potentially saves resources, or creating undue waste?"
