I need to change my NS6 media and PC1000. Any recommendation on the sequence of doing this before or after changing the carbon media on PC1000? Should I do the NS6 before? After? I have changed The PC1000 only in past, and it had me soak the new media for several days. Is that a good or bad idea here with the NS6? Do you happen to have a good reference video for this process? I have seen both the pelican and US Water videos for the carbon replacement, but not the softener/conditioner.

I would recommend doing the PC1000 carbon media first, then the NS6 conditioner media. The PC1000 is normally upstream of the NS6, so this lets you completely flush any carbon fines out of the PC1000 before putting the fresh NS6 media into service. When replacing the PC1000 media, keep the NS6 in bypass while you complete the carbon soak/rinse and flush. Once the PC1000 is running clear, replace the NS6 media. The NS6 is different from the carbon tank and does not need to soak for several days. The Pelican NS3/NS6 startup procedure calls for allowing the new conditioner media to soak for at least 60 minutes, followed by a high-flow flush for about 5 minutes and then a slower rinse for approximately 60 minutes. For the PC1000, older Pelican instructions called for a long carbon soak, which is probably what you remember. Our current replacement carbon is different, so we recommend following the instructions supplied with the US Water Systems replacement kit rather than the older Pelican procedure.
