Unlike chemical approaches to water disinfection, UV rapidly and effectively inactivates microorganisms through a physical process. When bacteria, viruses, and protozoa are exposed to the germicidal wavelengths of UV light, they are rendered incapable of reproducing and infecting. UV-C How It Works
Dating back to the early 1900s, UV disinfection is energy efficient, carbon neutral, chemical-free, and environmentally friendly. A UV disinfection system bombards the cell walls of organisms with electromagnetic energy in the form of UV-C. The UV-C light inactivates the organism's genetic material and the ability to reproduce. UV disinfection is 20,000 times more energy-efficient than boiling water and costs five times less annually when compared to chlorine disinfection.

"Purchased from U. S Water Systems in large part due to their Made-In-America commitment. The unit itself is very well built and includes all the necessary hardware for mounting. I chose to install the light on a piece of 3/4" plywood that I mounted to my basement wall. Shorter screws were required which I picked up from my local hardware store. Installation was straightforward following the on-line guide. So far, I'm happy with the build quality and the relative ease of maintenance that'll be coming up next year."

"We purchased a full system from US Water. They were very helpful in guiding us through what equipment we should put together to handle our iron bacteria, acidic water and bacteria. The instructions were clear, and the help line was very responsive. We are very happy with our purchase about 6 months later, and will continue to purchase and recommend US Water. I do wish they would provide total piping layout for the system, as that took some time and effort to layout. We installed a number of shutoff valves to allow for the different pieces of equipment to be isolated in case of cleaning or maintenance. We did have an issue with the Pulsar UV throwing an error code. US Water was helpful in getting that resolved."
