US Water 2.5" x 10" Re-Mineralization Filter - 3/8"
Calcite is naturally occurring calcium carbonate media. Upon contact with acidic waters, calcite slowly dissolves and the calcium carbonate raises the pH, which reduces potential leaching of copper, lead and other metals found in typical plumbing systems. It also raises the TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) level of the water and gives it a refreshing mineral flavor for those people that are used to drinking spring or mineral water.
Depending on the pH, water chemistry and service flow, the Calcite cartridge has to be periodically replenished as the Calcite is depleted. In most cases, it lasts up to 6 months.

"Installation is easy after you find an adapter to go from your shutoff faucet to the shark connection. Faucets are usually compression fitttings and faucet hoses have the correct thread and fit, but your regular hardware store does not carry an adapter from compression to Shark. Including that as an option would have saved me a week hunting."

"I spent a lot of time searching for a good replacement system for my home. I wanted to make it easy to service, have good flow and be made in USA. All were accomplished and couldn’t be happier. I mounted the filters and pressure tank in an unfinished area in my basement to the foundation at 5 feet high, then routed the lines to the sink faucet and refrigerator. After startup I dumped a couple tanks and the water tastes great! Additionally used the remineralization filter to balance the ph. The techs were supper helpful answering my several calls. Very pleased with the product and its backup support."

- What is the advantage of this remineralization filter vs the smaller one that's an option for the undersink RO system you offer? Does it provide 'better' remineralization or does it simply last longer due to the size of the filter?
- The bigger 2.5” x 10” remineralization filter generally isn’t “better” because it magically adds more minerals per glass—it’s mostly better because it has more media, so it lasts longer and stays more consistent before it’s exhausted. Remineralization happens by the RO water dissolving calcite as it flows through; with an under-sink RO the flow rate is already slow, which increases contact time and lets even a smaller inline remin cartridge do a good job. So the main advantage of the larger cartridge is capacity/longevity (and steadier performance under higher use), not necessarily stronger remineralization at the faucet.
