"We live in an environmentally sensitive area in NW Michigan. We're on well water, and it's at 200+ in hardness. We wanted to fight scale and mineral buildup but are trying to avoid a softener and the excess salt to the environment. We installed the limeblaster on the hot water side of our plumbing alone about 3 years ago, and I do think it has made a noticeable difference. As we have it on the hot water only it extends its life a bit, and feel it has been worth the filter cost. It will NOT do the job of an actual water softener, but it does improve the situation."
