Beast of a filter housing.

"What a well-built filter housing. Installation was easy but I did experience a leak using some PEX adapters. In addition to the Teflon tape, I used some pipe dope, and the problem was solved. I love the fact that the filters are huge and include a double o-ring. I'm anticipating the first change at six months to see how the filter looks. I wonder if a small petcock mounted on the bottom of the sump would be possible. There really isn't a way to drain it when changing filters and it can be quite heavy full of water."

Hello, Is the filter temperature rating meant more for the actual water temp running through the system or the environment temperature the filter system is located in?
It’s primarily the water temperature flowing through the housing/cartridge (i.e., the fluid temperature rating).
Can this Magna Pre-Filter cartridge/housing, the O-Ring AND the sediment filter handle ~ 150F ambient temperature? I'm planning to install it in a garage in Phoenix, Arizona. Phoenix, Arizona garages can get very hot, up to ~ 150F ambient temperature during the summer months. No direct sunlight, but the garage can get very hot during summer months (ambient hot temperature). I am planning to use this Pre-Filter for Cold Water only. Can this Pre-Filter Housing, O-Ring and Sediment Filter handle that kind of extreme ambient hot temperature? ~ 150F
The Magna Pre-Filter system and its replacement cartridges are rated for 40°F–125°F, and the manual cautions against high-heat exposure (e.g., direct sunlight) because the housing material can deform. Since your Phoenix garage can reach ~150°F ambient, that’s above the published rating, so we can’t recommend it for that environment—even on cold water only—unless it’s installed in a cooler, more temperature-controlled location.

does this have a pressure relief button ?
No. The Magna Pre-Filter does not have a pressure-relief button—by design. Those buttons are common leak points over time, so we omit them for long-term reliability. How to safely relieve pressure (recommended method): Close the inlet valve to the filter. Open a downstream faucet or drain valve (any valve after the filter) to drop pressure to zero. Once pressure is relieved, loosen the housing slowly to service the filter.
What size are the screws for the Magna filter bracket? I think I've misplaced mine. Are they lag screws?
The screws that mount the housing to the bracket are 5/16 x 1"
