The Matrixx Backwashing Sediment Filter System Effectively Removes Dirt, Sand, Silt, and Cloudiness

High performance granular filter media for unsurpassed removal of sand, silt and sediment to below 5 microns

The US Water Matrixx is a fully automatic backwashing filtration system. It uses all NSF and FDA approved components, including the filter media. The electronic computer control cleans the media of accumulated contaminants while delivering clean, clear, fresh water throughout your home. The electronic control center is easy to set and once set, you never have to set it again (except for DST). It traps dirt, sand, and silt better than ANY graded-density filter.

Benefits

  • Outperforms conventional multimedia due to its unique zeolite structure.
  • Has nearly 3 times the load capacity of sand - THREE TIMES!
  • Capable of handling higher service flow rate and increased load capacity and has a 5-micron nominal rating.
  • High performance filter media used in lieu of sand/anthracite, pecan shells, or other coarse filtration material to efficiently remove suspended solids and fine turbidity particles.
  • Microscopic mineral projections allow particulate matter to penetrate deeply into the bed.
  • The granules remove a wide range of colloidal and soluble inorganic metallic contaminants by surface absorption, chemical binding, charge-neutralization, coagulation, reactions, and/or ionic, ion-exchange phenomena.
  • One of the advantages is its superior filtration rating (5 micron nominal) which translates to enhanced water quality.
  • In cases where there is superfine silt or sand in the water, you may want to consider "step-down filtration" after the Matrixx Filter, such as with a BBF2 or BBF3 Filtration System

  • Communicates with your Smartphone via Bluetooth
  • Simply set the time of day, time of regeneration, and backwash frequency
  • Uses 9 Volt battery, so that if power goes out during regeneration, it automatically returns to service so as not to continually waste water to the drain
  • Monitors remaining battery life
  • Fully programmable cycles
  • Can be "precision tuned"

The electronic control center is easy to set and once set, you never have to set it again (except for DST). The Matrixx system incorporates an automatic backwash which removes accumulated contaminants and automatically backwashes the filtration media. This eliminates pressure drop and keeps the media in top condition.

Features

  • Electronic controller has only one internal moving part - simple to set
  • No complicated programs
  • Includes built-in bypass valve
  • Just one (1) internal moving part
  • 12 volt electrical system uses less than $2.00 electricity per year
  • 12 volt operation means no danger of electrical shock
  • Battery backup keeps the memory during power outages
  • The system removes or reduces silt, sand, sediment, and cloudiness
  • Extremely user friendly
  • Low maintenance due to automatic operation
  • Long life due to superior backwashing features
  • Chrome tank protector always looks like new and wipes clean easily. Looks just as good in 20 years! (Up to 20 GPM)

Warranty

  • Lifetime on Tank
  • 10 Years on Valve Electronics

Not sure what size filter you need? Bigger is usually better but remember, a system should be sized according to flow rate that is available for backwashing. A system must be backwashed at the specified flow rate to ensure it is flushed properly.

Excellent Sediment Filter!

"I bought this to replace my aging sediment back washing system for my dug well. I like the system because now I can monitor water use and set up the regeneration times right from my cell phone. I've had mine for about 3 years now and I have not had an issue. Install was simple and easy. I had my system up and running in about an hour, including downloading and programming the app on my cell phone. Granted I'm well versed on plumbing, but still, it was wicked easy. The system is very reliable and went together with no leaks or frustration. I flush my water heater every 6 months, and never any sediment! Still a very happy customer, and now I'm actually looking at more US Water Systems products for my other filtration needs."

Great piece of mind

"Purchased this whole house filter system and the ordering was extremely easy! Sent my water sample in and right away got the answers from Connor Sykes who recommended the Matrixx whole house sediment backwashing system with everything I needed to setup. Even gave me a deal on their 1micron cartridge filter element for the magna 4. 5x20. 1 spindown filter. Setup was a breeze and in no time the system was up and running! Kudos to the US Water team! Thank you again for a great experience!!"

I purchased to 10 GPM

"I purchased to 10 GPM and it has performed beyond my expectations! Our well had large amounts of sediment until now. we tested installation and the water is better than what they sell as "filtered" water up the road! Thanks US Water and their support team."

Pennell, C. (5/5)

Sediment backwash system

"Its been a few weeks and it seems to be doing well. My water pressure is way more consistent even when multiple faucets are in use. Overall, installation was much easier than anticipated. I replaced my pressure tank in the spring, so I am able to navigate most plumbing tasks. I was able to use both of my flex hoses from my previous sediment filter system which made life much easier and both have a shutoff valve."

"I've only had it for a little over a month, but it seems to be doing what it was designed for."

2.0 c.f. sediment filter

"Easy install, replaced small spin down filter I had to manually backwash every day."

Q&A

I am trying to decide which gpm I need to keep my house running efficiently. House is supplied by 2 one inch lines which are t'eed (with a third line to our RV). I am on a well system with a pressure tank. Right now I also have one of your 20 inch High Flow Filters as a prefilter for our hot water tank (and it does quite well, flow wise). I would expect that I need at least 15 gpm, but would go to 20 if the backflow will work.
The service flow rate and the required backwash flow rate are two different things on a backwashing sediment filter. While you may want 15–20 GPM available for the house, we also need to make sure your well and pressure tank can provide enough flow during the backwash cycle. For this system, the required backwash rates are: Model Max Flow Required Backwash Flow 081-MXF-SED-150 8 GPM 7 GPM 081-MXF-SED-200 10 GPM 10 GPM 081-MXF-SED-250 15 GPM 12 GPM 081-MXF-SED-300 20 GPM 15 GPM Based on what you described, the 15 GPM model may be the safest fit if your well can provide at least 12 GPM for backwash. The 20 GPM model can be used, but only if your well system can consistently provide at least 15 GPM during backwash. The fact that you have two 1" lines tee’d together suggests the plumbing may support higher flow, but the well pump output is the key factor. If the backwash flow is too low, the media may not clean properly and performance can suffer. We would recommend confirming your actual well/pump flow rate before choosing between the 15 and 20 GPM models.
is it difficult to install. i would like to try to install this myself
