The US Water Calcite Neutralizer System is designed to raise the pH of the water supply

Calcite is a naturally occurring calcium carbonate media. One of the advantages of Calcite is its self-limiting property. When properly applied, it corrects pH only enough to reach a non-corrosive equilibrium. It does not over-correct under normal conditions. Upon contact with calcite, acidic waters slowly dissolve the calcium carbonate to raise the pH which reduces potential leaching of copper, lead and other metals found in typical plumbing systems. Periodic back-washing will prevent packing, re-classify the bed and maintain high service rates. Depending on pH, water chemistry and service flow, the Calcite bed will have to be periodically replenished as the calcite is depleted. As the Calcite's calcium carbonate neutralizes the water, it will increase hardness and a softener may become necessary after the neutralizing filter.

MODEL # MAX FLOW RATE TANK SIZE LBS of MEDIA
111-UFF-CAL-2 10 gpm 10" X 54" 100 lbs
111-UFF-CAL-4 20 gpm 13" X 54" 150 lbs

Upflow calcite is perfect for whole-house reverse osmosis to raise the TDS of the water for use with copper plumbing

Not sure what size filter you need? Remember, it's always better to go a little too big than too small.

"For crawlspace install can these be partially burried"

Still waiting on post installation

"Still waiting on post installation water test results, however installing & commissioning the new ph balancer was a breeze. As a professional mechanical systems engineer (retired) I especially appreciate the flexible “O-Ring” seals and connections at the cylinder top - very nice - and not a single drop of leakage first time the system was pressured up nor since. Will be looking to US Water Systems for additional hard water and Nitrate solutions in the future. Absolutely love and appreciate that it’s made in the USA too. Reg Wren"

Q&A

How often does it need to be backwashed? Also if I install a Uv filter do I install it before the ph filter or after the ph filter? Thanks
Backwashing: Since this is an upflow calcite system, it doesn't require regular automatic backwashing like a traditional downflow unit. The upward flow during normal use keeps the media bed from packing down. We recommend a manual backwash once or twice a year (or if you notice reduced flow) to re-classify the bed and keep it performing at its best. You'll also want to top off the calcite media periodically as it's gradually consumed neutralizing your water — typically every 6–18 months depending on your water chemistry and usage. UV Placement: Always install your UV system AFTER the pH neutralizer — UV should be the final stage of treatment before water enters your home. Calcite can release fine particles that create shadows where bacteria can hide from the UV light, so we also strongly recommend adding a 5-micron sediment filter immediately before the UV for maximum disinfection performance.
How do you recharge it after having it in use 3 years? I have the original literature but it shows you how to do it from a fresh empty start.
It is very similar to replacing the carbon media spelled out in this video: https://youtu.be/nrMVlpSpjsw You can call Tech Support at 800-390-5936 for more guidance.
